Modular Malware Threatens Critical InfrastructureWhy This Type of Malware Is Much Tougher to Detect
Modular malware is targeting India's critical infrastructure in a manner that's extremely difficult to detect, says Prayukth K.V. of Subex Ltd., a telecom solutions provider that has released a new report on the threat.
"Traditionally, what used to happen was malware was deployed in one shot in a network or a system or a device that has been targeted," Prayukth says in an interview with Information Security Media Group. "In the case of a modular malware, the deployment happens in batches, and these batches could extend to over a year."
In this interview (see audio link below image), Prayukth also discusses:
- Why modular malware is tough to detect;
- What organizations are getting targeted;
- What can be done to mitigate the risks.
Prayukth is chief marketing officer, IoT, at Subex. He focuses on developing a better understanding of the cybersecurity aspects of IoT systems.
