US-CERT Head on How Government Will Work With Industry
Feds Take Lead on Info Sharing

The Obama administration isn't waiting for Congress to get businesses to share cyberthreat information with the government. Ann Barron-DiCamillo, director of the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team, discusses how the Department of Homeland Security is standing up the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center known as NCICC (pronounced n-kick) to serve as the portal for the government and businesses to share cyberthreat information.

In an interview recorded at RSA Conference 2015, DiCamillo discusses:

  • How DHS gets non-federal entities to participate in info-sharing;
  • Challenges the department must overcome;
  • DHS's role in assuring the IT security of federal agencies.

U.S.-CERT is a key component of NCICC, and as its director, Barron-DiCamillo oversees a 24x7 operations center and team that analyzes and works to reduce cyberthreats and vulnerabilities, disseminate cyber-threat warning information and supports incident response activities with government and critical industry partners. Previously, she held leadership positions with the Department of Defense. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Baylor University, a Master of Science degree from American University and is a CISSP.
