An enterprise's cross-functional groups responsible for business growth and brand reputation should be held equally accountable for cybersecurity. This was the view of a CISO and a CTO who participated in a fireside chat at ISMG's recent Virtual Cybersecurity India & SAARC Summit.

"I think everyone who has the responsibility for profit and loss should be conscious of the cybersecurity risk and its impact, not just in terms of dollar value, but brand reputation, says Ravinder Pal Singh, chief information & innovation officer, Tata Singapore Airlines (Air Vistara). "Responsibility for a fraud is with the owner of the system, and when some disaster happens, then responsibility for forensics is the CISO's."

Ashutosh Jain, CISO at Axis Bank, says technology and security are perceived as two sides of the same coin. But he says they are on the same side of the coin because the end product delivery requires both these elements. "Security is about the mindset, and it should be understood or practiced by the technology functions and operations in ensuring the secure delivery of products," Jain says.

In this video fireside chat, the experts address:

  • How automation is bridging the gaps and enhancing the capabilities of all functions;
  • How CTO and CISO functions are defining the risk management framework;
  • How culture plays a role in security.

With over two decades of global experience in technology and information risk, Jain, CISO at Axis Bank, is responsible for giving strategic direction in cybersecurity, information risk and security governance. Before joining Axis Bank, Jain was the head of India and emerging markets, technology risk and information risk at Barclays, where he established the technology risk management function and internal controls function of India's retail and commercial bank.

Singh, chief information & innovation officer at Tata Singapore Airlines (Air Vistara), is a Harvard alumnus, rescue pilot, angel investor and global speaker at international events. He also has several patents. He's an artificial intelligence leader in Asia.
